10:26 pm
This morning we woke up at 5:30 so that we could be working by 6 am to finish our five hours before the heat hit us too hard. We climbed down from the loft to discover that our cat friend (who is named Good) had left us another present right in the center of our floor. Today, we received what looked like a fetus, but we decided was once a shrew because we all around it was fur and two big front teeth. Luckily, the fire ants hadn't found it yet, so we shoveled it outside and cleaned up the floor. Our burners are still not working so we ate cereal for breakfast.
Then, we hiked up the switch backs to start farm work. By the time we reached the main tiers of the farm, we had already hiked 40 cases of stairs (according to Frank's watch). We found Drake and he told us to get right back to our weeding. Yay. So, we weeded a bed and another bed for 2 hours and 45 minutes and it was soo hot, even though the sun was no where near its peak. The two beds had a few carrots and onions left in them, but the rest was entirely grass. But we plucked it all out. Eventually, Drake needed help and I climbed through the jungle to help him pick some birds of paradise flowers. After, we packed the flowers and lots of herbs into a big order, then, we went to go pick white beans.
Picking white beans is the absolute best activity. First of all, if you get to pick white beans, it means you do not have to be weeding during that time. Second, the beans are on vines that are eye level, so it is nice and comfortable picking. They are also super fun to pick. The beans are either green or they are all dried out to a cream color and that means they can be picked. They dried out beans rattle in their little pods and when you throw them into the basket, they all rattle and it is very satisfying. We were afraid at first that the white bean picking would be short lived, but the farther we went down the row, the more dense the vines became and the bean picking that we thought would only take 15 minutes took a whole 45. It was a great time. Afterwards however, we had to return to weeding for our last half hour of work.
Today, Drake also gave us a snack of a fruit we had never eaten called Abiu. It is white and very slimy and sweet but I really didn't like it. Frank seemed to however, because she ate the rest of it. We also got fresh bananas which were delicious.
In the afternoon, we went for a dive at a new site called the Blonde Rock. I discovered I have underwater claustrophobia. After diving through two small caves, I panicked too much to go inside the 3rd which was much smaller, and had to go around. It was a great day, hoping for no more presents from our cat.

This is the view from above the farm, I am standing at the shack where we pack orders. On the left is the main house. Down the path leading from mid right towards the left of the photo leads down to the rest of the farm. It is gorgeous up here.
This is Drake working in one garden.
Here are a section of beds that we have been weeding with a row of white beans in the center that we picked on Thursday. The tree on the left is a papaya tree.
Hours today: 10
Hours total: 68
